Ian has given presentations at many business and cultural seminars over the years, and has worked for Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Prudential Life Insurance, leading executives (and their families) of many international corporations, a few VIPs and celebrities.
From 1994 to 2009, Ian served as the editor-in-chief of the Kyoto Visitor's Guide. He was also the executive editor of the Osaka Visitor's Guide from 1993 to 1997. As KVG's editor-in-chief, Ian wrote and took photographs for thousands of articles and interviews all over Kyoto.
Ian Ropke is the author of the Historical Dictionary of Osaka and Kyoto. This book is widely cited, including in the Wikipedia bibliography for Kyoto, Osaka, and Japan. The book is a standard reference item on both cities in university and large libraries around the world (still available on Amazon).
Beyond Ian's expertise as a Japan travel and tourism destination specialist, Ian is also an expert in international tourism and travel. He is the founder and creator of tripGaea a global private travel industry disruption startup.
