About Ian Ropke
Your Japan Private Tours & Specialty Services was founded in 1992. The Canadian founder and owner, Ian Ropke, has been active in the Japanese tourism/hospitality industry for more than 25 years. Ian has guided many individuals and groups in Kyoto as lecturer on Japanese culture and history. Ian has worked with large corporations (Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Prudential Life Insurance . . .) to create the best time in Japan possible for enterprise situations. He has also walked many days in Tokyo and Kyoto with families from around the world talking about the intricacies of Japan.
Ian was the editor-in-chief of the Kyoto Visitor's Guide from 1994-2009 and the Osaka Visitor's Guide (1993-1997). Some of Ian's KVG issues were used to teach tourism at 3 large private universities in Japan between 1996-2007. Ian was also a part-time lecturer from 1998-2008 at Ritsumeikan University, Ryukoku University and Seian University of Design. He is also the author of the Historical Dictionary of Kyoto and Osaka, published in 1999 and available on Amazon. and Google Books.
Beyond Ian's expertise as a Japan travel and tourism destination expert, he is also an expert in international tourism and travel. He is the founder of tripGaea Inc.
