*Note: All prices are per group (1-9 pax for self-guided tours and services; 1-6 pax for guided tours) not per person! So, my Japan self-guided tours and services are the same for one person, a couple or a 9-person small group. And the guided tours are the same price for one, two or a small group of 6 people. My tailormade Japan tour packages, which are all private (i.e., all family, friends or coworkers), can be a couple of days, a week, 10 days, two weeks or longer. And usually a Japan tour package is a combination of tours and travel services designed to save time and have a better time in a culture known for its exotic wonders and challenging logistics. Japan is amazing but the learning curve is steep, unless you are an expert or an expert traveler or you have all the time in the world. Whether a 3-day Japan tour package or a 30-day Japan tour package, you will save time and have a better time with my tours and services, which are based on more than 30 years of Japan tour operator and tourism experience.

My prices, for self-guided and guided tours, are for 4 hours (a half day or a night tour or an early morning adventure); 6 hours (a 3/4 day); and 8 hours (full day). I do not expect you or your small group to spend a certain amount of money. Every client is different. For example, some clients spend USD 3,000 on my services in 14 days, most spend about USD 1,200 in 14 days, and a few only spend USD 700 during a 14-day Japan trip. These totals are the total of all the tours and services the client has agreed to. And I only ask for payment at the final OK stage, your final OK.

My time-tested private Japan tour packages are almost always a combination of my tour designs (self-guided or guided), A to B transfers (for example, hotel X in city X to hotel Y in city Y), and my other travel services (special tickets; cuisine experiences and reservations; maiko-geisha private experiences in Kyoto; studio visits; business services).

Self-guided independent tours in Yen per group NOT per person

  • Early morning self-guided & “secret spot” tours: Yen 11,000 for 1-9 people; 4 hours
  • 3/4-day self-guided tours: Yen 15,000 for 1-9 people; 6 hours
  • Full day self-guided tours: Yen 24,000 for 1-9 people; 8 hours

Self-guided independent tour conditions & expenses: 1. For more than 9 people in your family or group, add 5% for each extra person. 2. Expenses are not included in the self-guided independent tour prices quoted above. General expense overview: Lunch (from Yen 800/person), train/subway/taxi/bus fares (from Yen 1,000/day/person), and temple entry cost (from Yen 300/person/temple). 3. Van, sedan or bus | driver option: about Yen 8,000/hour (more for large buses) + service arrangement fee (Yen 7,000/group). The car | van | bus hire fee is usually paid by the client directly on the day of use (credit card payment OK; but there are exceptions).

The choices are all yours!
  • Cuisine experiences & reservations: Yen 7,000/1-9pax/reservation, including taxi instructions to and from the restaurant or train | subway | walking instructions to and from the restaurant
  • Private car | bus & driver transportation arrangements: Yen 7,000/1-9pax/reservation to reserve a vehicle (sedan, van or bus) and driver with the transport company. [Generally, the per hour charge for a sedan or 9-seater van is Yen 9,000/hour/vehicle anywhere in Japan]
  • Advanced train tickets & other ticket pre-purchased at the client’s request: Yen 7,000/1-9pax/ticket set (+ Yen 1,500 to courier the tickets to your arrival hotel)
  • Private geisha | maiko entertainment (Gion, Kyoto): Yen 190,000/couple (for larger groups please inquire); includes an introductory Gion district stroll; a kaiseki dinner in a fabulous old Gion restaurant, an interpretor, a 90-min maiko dance performance & photos (up close and personal)

If you decide to cancel a Your Japan Private Tour's guided or self-guided tour or travel service, before arriving in Japan or after arriving in Japan, please note my cancellation charges are as follows:

1. 21-11 days prior to the date of the agreed-upon Japan travel services: 30% of the total charges.

2. 10-6 days prior to the date of the agreed-upon Japan travel services: 60% of the total charges.

3. 5-0 days prior to the date of the agreed-upon Japan travel services: 100% of the total charges.

Cancellation policy notes: The date of cancellation and thus the cancellation charges are based on the date and time when the cancellation notice is received in Japan time, NOT the local date and time when the cancellation request was sent by the client.
